Electric Sailboat Rental on the Mani Peninsula: What to Expect
Electric Sailboat Rental on the Mani Peninsula: What to Expect
There are plenty of ways to see the Mani Peninsula. You can drive the coastal road, hike the gorges, or ride an e-bike through the villages. But the coastline — the sea caves, the hidden coves, the cliffs that drop straight into turquoise water — can only be reached from the sea.
Mani Escapes operates the only electric sailboat rental on the Mani Peninsula. Our vessel is the Tofinou 9.7m, hull #11 — Boat of the Year 2020 — a beautifully designed French sailboat fitted with a silent electric motor. No engine noise. No diesel fumes. Just the sound of the water and the wind.
Why electric?
Conventional sailboats use diesel engines when the wind drops or when manoeuvring in tight coves. The noise and smell break the spell. Our electric motor is completely silent — you can hear the sea birds, the water lapping against the hull, and nothing else. It's a fundamentally different experience.
Electric also means zero emissions in the water. The Mani coastline is one of the cleanest in Greece. We intend to keep it that way.
What's included
Every rental includes:
- Full use of the Tofinou 9.7m (up to 6 guests)
- Skipper (Pierros handles the sailing — no licence required)
- Life jackets and safety equipment for all guests
- Snorkelling gear
- Cooler box (bring your own food and drinks)
- Detailed map of the best coastal spots
Full-day rentals also include soft drinks and a picnic lunch.
Rental options and pricing
| Option | Duration | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sunset sail | 2–3 hours | €300 |
| Half day | 4 hours | €450 |
| Full day | 8 hours | €600 |
All prices are for the whole boat, not per person. Split between 4–6 guests, a half-day sail works out to €75–€112 per person — comparable to a guided kayak tour, but with a lot more comfort.
Where we go
The route depends on wind, weather, and what you want to see. Some of our favourite destinations from Stoupa:
The sea caves near Diros: The Diros Caves are famous for their underground lake tours, but the coastline around them is equally spectacular from the water — dramatic limestone cliffs, arches, and small sea caves you can swim into.
The coves below Limeni: Limeni is a tiny fishing village built around a natural harbour. The coves on either side are only accessible by boat — calm, clear, and almost always empty.
The cliffs of the Deep Mani: South of Gerolimenas, the coastline becomes increasingly wild. Tower villages perch on the clifftops above. From the water, you get a perspective that no road can offer.
Stoupa's hidden beaches: Even close to home, there are small beaches and rocky inlets that most visitors never find. We know where they are.
Who is it for?
Our sailboat trips are popular with:
- Families — children love the snorkelling, and the boat is stable and safe
- Couples — the sunset sail is a favourite for anniversaries and honeymoons
- Small groups — up to 6 guests, so it works well for a group of friends
- Anyone who wants to see the Mani coastline properly — which is everyone
No sailing experience is required. Pierros handles everything. You just need to show up, sit back, and enjoy.
